How Andre Verifies that Progress Notes Were Completed Each Day in Eaglesoft
So many people have asked me in the past: “Is there a way that we can tell that Progress Notes were completed for each Patient, each day?”
Well, there is the Patient Notes Audit Trail (PNAT) report. The PNAT will show Notes created, edited, deleted and can be filtered by date and/or by Provider. I PNAT report is not one that I use because it shows Notes that were written but does not compare the scheduled Patients to the Notes, so you have a List of Notes written but no idea if a Patient from a day was “missed”.
Suggestions I have heard from other Fielders:
- Adding a “note” to the appointment block that in some way, mentions that
notes are incomplete. (Fully manual and dependent on an employee)
- Changing the Appointment back to “Not Walked Out” until notes are completed THEN the appointment is marked as Walked Out. (Fully manual and dependent on an employee)
- Adding characters into the Schedule block Prefix field to indicate “completed notes” (Fully manual and dependent on an employee)
- Utilizing AutoNotes as Post Procedure Notes (PPN). In this method, an Autonote is attached to a Service Code (SC). When that SC is posted to a Patients Walkout an unconfirmed Post Procedure Note is added to the Notes History. That unconfirmed Note would then need to be confirmed at the End-of-Day. (Fully manual, individual AutoNotes are for EACH Service Code and dependent on an employee. SmartNotes can NOT be use in PPNs)
- Printing a copy of the schedule that is marked up with a highlighter throughout the day (Fully manual, the schedule changes multiple times during the day and dependent on an employee).
The better option would be to work with the Patterson Technology Center (“Support”) on creating a Custom Intellicare Alert that would “automatically” add an Icon (see green “N” on the appointment block) on the Schedule and/or on the virtual clinical screen indicating if Notes were Completed for each Patient. This icon will only be shown for the current day’s Patients.
