Andre's Supernumerary Tooth Charting and Billing in Eaglesoft

How can you get a Supernumerary (SN) tooth (the same instruction would fit for a Mesiodens) to show on the Eaglesoft Odontograph?

Really easy answer.  You “can’t”.

Ok.  Well, you can. Sort of.

You can create a simple Custom Draw type to represent where a SN might exist.  From the Clinical screen:

  1. Go to List>Draw Types

  2. New

  3. Make sure to check the Use for all teeth check box.

  4. Click the Clear button

  5. Using the circle tool create 2 circles (move the “slider” to “2” as shown in the pic below

6) Change the Description.

7) Click Save and Close

8) Click Edit to edit the Draw Type you just created.

9) Uncheck the Use for all teeth check box.

10) Pick the Eraser tooth (2nd from left Drawing Tool)

11) Change the slide bar to “10”

12) “Erase” the lower ovals on tooth numbers 1 to 8.

13) Erase the upper ovals on tooth numbers 25 to 32.

14) Erase the lower ovals on tooth numbers A to E.

15)  Erase the upper ovals on tooth numbers P to T.

16)  Click Save and Close

You now haw a Draw Type created for Supernumerary Teeth.

To chart a SN tooth, you need to set up a Condition. From the Clinical screen:

1) Go to List>Conditions>

2) Create a Description and Display Abbreviation

3) Use the drop down to pick the Supernumerary Draw Type that was created in the Previous steps.

4) Confirm that the Affected area is Tooth.

5) Click Save and Close

To submit for the Extraction of a SN, you have to set-up a new Service Code.

  1. Go List > Service Codes > New.

  2. Create the Service Code S7140 (first line in creating a new code) and the ADA Code is S7140 (second line in creating a new code) Description is “Extraction - Erupted or Exposed – Supernumerary”.  The Standard Fee is the same as the D7140 “Extraction - Erupted or Exposed” code (see pic).

If needed, create the Service Code is S7111 (first line in creating a new code) and the ADA Code is D7111 (second line in creating a new code) Description is “Extraction - Coronal Remnants - Primary Supernumerary”.  The Standard Fee is the same as the D7140 “Extraction - Coronal Remnants - Primary” code.

When extracted, Edit the Condition and mark “Condition No Longer Present”.

There is no way currently to draw a restoration on a SN.

Offices who have gone through our Clinical Skill Development get our Custom Draw Type Pack (see below) that include a more detailed drawing set, but the basics above will do the job.

Update: If you are Vyne Dental user, they suggest walking out the Perm tooth number. Then in the "Remarks for Unusual Services" enter a note that "This is a Supernumerary Tooth #51+". I have not seen this in action and would love to know if it works. I have not found that RFUS helps a claim.
