How Andre Changes the Eaglesoft Messenger Sound - Eaglesoft just needs more Cow Bell…
So many people have moved away from using Eaglesoft Messenger and so many say it’s because they say they don’t know when a message arrives. I have always suggested that offices swap the default Message tone OUT!
The default Messenger arrival sound is the sound a keyboard “typing” (“click click click”). TOO low for anyone to hear over the sound of suction and drills.
IF you “swap” the Eaglesoft logon "Ding Dong" sound for the Message Arrival sound, or even pick a message tone (like the choices you have you’re your smartphone, like the old AOL "You've got Mail!" sound THEN messenger is a good option because you will hear that a message has arrived.
To do this (you will need to do this at EVERY workstation) you will need to browse to the ES folder of Windows. Bu default it’s C:\Eaglesoft\Shared\. There are two files, One for the Logon and one for the Message Arrival. They can be replaced. It's kind of like changing the ringtone on a cell phone.
WARNING: Don't do this if you've never done something like this before. Ask your IT company for help.
What I do is
1. Go to C:\Eaglesoft\Shared\
2. Copy the file named “logon.wav” and paste onto a thumb drive.
3. Now that the file is on the thumb drive, right click on the file and rename it “message1.wav”
4. Go back to C:\Eaglesoft\Shared\
5. Copy the “message.wav” file and paste to the same thumb drive
6. On the Thumb Drive, right click and rename the “message.wav” file “logon.wav”.
7. Right click on the “message1.wav” on the thumb drive and rename it “message.wav”.
8. On your thumb drive you should now have two files: message.wav and logon.wav. Copy those to files and paste them into the C:\Eaglesoft\Shared\ folder of the computer you copied them from. You will be asked if you want to overwrite the existing files, and you do.
Next, repeat step 8 at all your other workstation. BTW.. You must have speakers on the workstations for this process to work.
