Andre’s Official Intraoral Camera Buying Gude for Eaglesoft Users.
This will be an ongoing post with Intraoral (IO) Cameras that Fielders posted as Printers they use and recommend.
WARNING: This are recommended by users, and I have not personally tested them (if I do, I will note that). There is no guarantee they will work for YOUR practice so purchase someplace where you can return if needed.
I think the comparison of an “inexpensive” camera to an “expensive” camera is a false equivalency. If you are taking photos for your AACD presentation, you should be using a digital SLR. If you have 10 ops and you want everyone to have one that you can show "gunk" or a fractured cusp, and you don't want to fear dropping it... cheap camera. I sold, represented, even visited the factories of Sopro, DigitalDoc, and Schick and I have used/tested all of them and I still strongly suggest MW. It's not pretty but I'd rather have a practice where every Provider had a MW then a practice where 2 hygienists share another brand. Look at this photo (It was done a while back). The three rows represent the cheapest camera on the market at the time, a mid-priced camera and the most expensive cam at the time. From left to right, these were taken in a jig holding the cam 1) so it touched the $10 bill, 2) 1/8" away 3) 1/4" away 4) 1" away and last focused on the tooth. Which one do you "like" best?
