How Andre Creates New Patients in Eaglesoft

Search First!  The “New Patient” may be a existing Policy Holder and/or Responsible Party.  I recommend search from the Person list on the Virtual Front Desk screen toolbar and NOT the Patient list from the Schedule or Virtual Operatory Screens.

Make sure that Show Inactives and Auto Search are both checked

When you search, enter the first 3 letters of the last name followed by the first initial.  This will give you a lost of patients who match. 

If the Person exist in the list, edit their information and make sure they are marked as a Patient.

If the Person is not on the list, Click New to create the new Patient.

When creating a new Person in Eaglesoft, the path that should be taken is through the Responsible Person.

Then, if the patient carries the insurance Coverage, click Policy Holder.  If they are not their own Policy Holder, add then as a New Person only checking the Policy Holder box.  You an click the Blue Hyperlink to Responsible Party and click Last Responsible Party to bring up the Person created in the last step.

Now you can create a New Person and mark that Person as a Patient.

I have always taught tat creating a New Patient is like create a tree: Start with the trunk (Responsible Party) then the limb (Policy Holder) then the Leaf/leaves (Patient(s)).
